Mid season of Belg 2024 outlook |

During the last two months of February 1 to March 31/2024, there was widespread rain in the south and southwest, central and northeastern areas of the country and in terms of quantity, from 131-468 mm rainfall was recorded. In association to this, compared to the normal amount of rain expected in the two months in the southwest region of Ethiopia; South Ethiopia region; in the central region of Ethiopia; in the Somali region; Gambella and Benshangul Gumuz as well as Tigray region received Normal to above normal rainfall. In the coming two months of Belg season Seasonal rain is expected to continue in most of the Belg’s growing areas; especially in the month of April, there will be better rainfall situations in most parts of the country and there will be heavy rains that may cause flash floods in a few places. On the other hand, in association with the start of Kiremt rains, in May it is expected that the western half of the country will have better rainfall amount and distribution.  Back to List |
